The ideal candidate will be experienced in working with students with specific learning difficulties, e.g. dyslexia, and supporting study skills.

DN Colleges Group is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Lecturer in Additional Learning Support, specialising in dyslexia and study skills support, to join our inclusive and student-focused team.

You’ll play a vital role in ensuring learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) receive the tailored support they need to thrive across a range of further education and apprenticeship programmes.


Essential Criteria

We’re looking for someone who brings both expertise and empathy to the role. You’ll need:

  • degree in a relevant field (English & Maths, ESOL, Psychology, Education etc.)
  • A recognised Teaching Qualification is desirable but not essential – applicants must be willing to work towards this.
  • Level 7 qualification in assessing for access arrangements (e.g. CPT3A or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting learners with dyslexia, literacy, numeracy, and language needs in FE and/or HE settings
  • A strong understanding of specific learning difficulties and educational needs, and their impact on learning and progression
  • Experience using innovative and inclusive teaching strategies
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work flexibly across teams and settings

Key Responsibilities

As a Lecturer in Additional Learning Support, you will:

  • Deliver tailored one-to-one and small group interventions to support learners with specific learning difficulties
  • Carry out Access Arrangements Assessments and provide appropriate recommendations
  • Conduct SpLD screenings for higher education students and offer interim support
  • Work closely with curriculum teams and employers to advise on reasonable adjustments and support strategies
  • Promote inclusive practice and contribute to a positive learning environment across the college
  • Maintain accurate records in line with funding and audit requirements
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to quality improvement initiatives

Let’s Teach The LET’s teach programme supports new members of teaching staff in terms of college systems and key teaching and learning areas including new staff lesson visits and postcard peeps. Each new member of staff has an allocated Lead Practitioner who works closely with them throughout the programme.  

Let’s Bloom
The LET’s Bloom Programme aims to connect our experienced and qualified teachers to share best practice and support continued risk-taking as we continue to add depth to our teaching craft. Teachers volunteer on this one year programme, working closely with the Learning Enhancement Team, capturing their experimentation in a journal.
